Forester’s World

The project Forester’s World is an accessible school programme for 9 to 16 year old pupils, which communicates forest educational content in a sustainable way. The aim is to establish a long-term and sustainable relationship between the pupils and the forest. The children and young people visit the forest with the local forester and get to know the forest as a place to live and work through practical work and educational activities. The school class regularly visits the forest for two to three years at different times of the year and can observe the changes and developments up close. If possible, they are assigned their own area of forest to manage. In this way, the pupils learn more about the relationship between humans and forests, between forest management and wood use and therefore directly experience sustainability. The project thus makes a contribution to education for sustainable development (ESD).

SILVIVA connects school classes and foresters who wish to take part in the programme and offers training and coaching for those involved.
